Being a fashion designer

I want to tell you a bit about being a fashion designer. First of all, even getting a fashion designer isn’t as easy as people would expect. You have to study at least 3 Years and not only learn how to design, but also a lot about textile technology, sewing, marketing strategies, art and fashion history, psychology behind fashion and a lot of more stuff.
When you graduate you have to realise 6 complete outfits, design a total of 20 outfits, a booklet with lots of illustrations, technical drawings and fashion sketches for all 20 of them. You have to work a lot on presentation and how to introduce people into your graduating theme. When you're finished it doesn't means that you can immediately start to work as a fashion designer. You often have to work as an intern (even for a long time) underpaid or even non-paid, doing the unpopular jobs until you maybe get a junior designer eventually.
I f you're building you own brand you have to put in a lot of effort and money to design your own collection or clothing range, make all patterns, realise the first prototypes, spread the word about your new brand, find your specific clientele, work on your skills and designs all the time. And I guess, I just forgot so much else. So if you choose this way you should be rather passionate about the whole thing.
